‘Lioness’ is the first single from Beccy Cole’s soon to be released album of the same name and in an Australian first, it features a same sex couple.
Performing the song with Beccy’s all-female band, the ‘Sisters Of Twang’ by a fire in Mount White, NSW, the clip also glimpses into the life of a young lesbian couple clearly in love.
The self-penned track has already jumped to number two on the Australian Country tracks chart in only its second week of release. ‘Lioness’ was written about Beccy’s relationship with wife, Libby O’Donovan and is as lyrically witty and clever as we have come to expect from the South Australian.
The album itself follows next week on August 24 through ABC Music and in another Aussie first, it has been produced entirely by fabulous females, from the music to the artwork.
The film clip has had over 40,000 views on on social media. Australia’s only 100% country music channel, CMC has added it as ‘Country Pick!’
Amid the beer swigging, truck driving, down-by-the-lake country songs dominating the genre’s visual offerings, ‘Lioness’ is set to be a breath of fresh air
